The aim of this study is to explore the effect of social categorization, on which group identity is based, on communication efficiency parametrics. Participants, who do not know each other, are the students of Istanbul University and the age range of participants is between 18 and 25. There are 108 participants, which consist of 54 couples, in the two experimental situations of this study. Communication Conflict Situation (CCS) method and a likert scale which was formed to understand the effect of instructions on social categorization process, were used. Couples, who were formed according to their verbal and numerical points taken from the ÖSS (Ögrenci Seçme Sinavi - Student Selection Exam), were divided into two groups: the group being instructed and the group not being instructed. When the results were evaluated statistically, it was found out that being instructed does not effect the communication efficiency parametrics.
